Letters Between Merthyr Tydfil and the World
Thomas Stephens (1821–1875) of Merthyr Tydfil is best known for his ground-breaking Literature of the Kymry (1849) and his controversial Llangollen eisteddfod essay disproving Prince Madoc’s discovery of America, but Stephens was also a prolific letter writer, carrying on a voluminous correspondence with scholars, friends and expatriate Welshmen in Ireland, Europe, America and Australia.
