Rossini Messe Solennelle

Rossini would have appreciated the well known joke that his Petite Messe Solennelle is neither small nor solemn, and would surely have been further amused by the thought that in fact the forces required to perform it are small (reduced still further in our performance by cutting out the second piano!) and whilst the music is good humouredly operatic, the text is indubitably solemn (the clue is in the title!).
Making the most of their opportunities for operatic singing will be soloists Tilly Green, Emily Renshaw-Kidd, Clifford Lister and Jonathan Arnold.
