Reading Ancient Schoolroom

Children aged 5-18 and their parents or friends are invited to experience going to school like an ancient Roman at the University of Reading on Saturday 1st July and Tuesday 4th July. Wearing full Roman costume, you will learn how to read from a papyrus roll, write on wax tablets with a stylus, and write on ostraca with pens and ink, all the while behaving the way an ancient child would behave at school. 1 July: schoolroom only, entry at 12:30 or 4 pm, cost £5, advance booking essential.
4 July: schoolroom and other activities including Roman mathematics, Roman food, and object handling in Ure museum
