PORT SUNLIGHT SEA DOGS. The FLORAL PAVILION, New Brighton. Shanties & Songs of the Sea
Port Sunlight Sea Dogs - PSSD are back the best, panoramic, Marine Promenade performance setting in the UK - the historic 'Pivvy' - famed in story & song! Port Sunlight Sea Dogs continue a great tradition of singing lusty choruses & wistful ballads which tell of our maritime history. Sing your hearts out to all of your favourite shanties, right on the banks of the River Mersey. HISTORY: The right shanty helped the crew work in the harshest conditions– while weighing anchor, hoisting topsails, loading/unloading cargo; decks awash, knee deep in water, straining together, feet braced, for one mighty pull! Come by rail, road, rail, ferry or even jet ski....
Supported by Gerry Ffrench, winner of the North West Folk Costa Del Portugal awards 2017, Les Bourne & Dave Burrows on guitar & concertina, Jo Pue Richards on violin, and Paul Robinson on accordian.
