Company Overview
Essex Horse and Pony Protection Society has been rescuing, rehabilitating and rehoming horses and ponies since 1986 when the sanctuary was opened. Most of these animals come from the most appalling conditions, and our dedicated team work tiredlessly to care for them and provide them a safe haven.

Our policy is that if an animal is capable of being fully rehabilitated, mentally and physically, it is fostered out to an experienced, and carefully monitored, home. This process allows us to continue our work with other needy cases who are brought to our attention almost daily.

We welcome visitors to our Sanctuary every Sunday afternoon from the first Sunday in April through to the end of December between 11am and 4pm, as well as Bank Holiday Mondays
