Petersfield Museum

A Victorian heritage site situated at the foot of the South Downs National Park, Petersfield Museum looks to tell the engaging story of ten thousand years of local history from the Bronze Age up to its status as a historic market town. Housed in a Victorian magistrates’ courthouse and police station, the Museum tells the stories and history of its local communities through a diverse mixture of social history, archaeology, art, historic dress, literature, photography, poetry and social history. Home to The Edward Thomas Study Centre, this fantastic resource on the renowned WW1 poet proudly displays the Tim Wilton-Steer Collection of rare books by and about Edward Thomas.

The beautiful Victorian architecture, combined with the recently designed contemporary interior, outdoor courtyard, café and temporary exhibition spaces, showcases a fantastic example of a museum that proudly shows off its history but with a modern, stylish flair.
