St Nicolas Parish Church

For eight centuries St Nicolas Church has stood in the centre of Pevensey. The oldest building still in use here for its original purpose, the church is a mainstay of Christian belief and local life, a living link between today’s village community and Pevensey’s medieval seaport heritage.
All are most welcome to visit and worship in this place of peace, prayer and pilgrimage and
are warmly invited to enjoy the concerts and performances held here in our excellent acoustic.
St Nicolas Church is a place to discover both local and national history. A static exhibition tells the story of the part played by the church in the changing life of Britain since the Norman Conquest. From William the Conqueror’s nearby landing in 1066, when Pevensey was on the coast, it became an inspiring emblem of medieval importance within the once powerful Confederation of Cinque Ports.
