Eden Camp Modern History Museum

Eden Camp Modern History Museum is set within the original huts of a genuine Second World War prisoner of war camp near Malton, North Yorkshire. Built in 1942 to house Italian and later German prisoners, the site was rescued from decades of overgrowth in the 1980s and reopened in 1987 as the world's first Modern History Theme Museum.

Each hut is its own immersive experience, using sound, smell and life-size tableaux to bring wartime Britain to life — from the Blitz and the Home Front to rationing, evacuation, and conflicts spanning WWI to the modern day. Outdoors, visitors can explore a restored Sherman tank and other historic military vehicles.

Refreshments are available at WinStan's Bunker Café, with a gift shop for souvenirs and a play area for younger visitors. The museum offers free on-site parking (including coach parking), is dog-friendly throughout, and is accessible for wheelchair users. Located just off the A64 near Malton, it's an award-winning day out for all ages and int
