The choir's repertoire includes: composers such as Mozart, Vivaldi, Handel, Bach, Mendelssohn, John Rutter, Karl Jenkins, Ola Gjeilo; selections from West End musical shows; a wide range of stand-alone pieces; folk songs and carols. As well as singing classical pieces in Latin, it also sings in several foreign languages such as French, German, Russian and Welsh.
The choir mainly draws its membership from Tiptree and areas within a 30 minute drive; though some travel further.
Concerts are currently held three times a year in the choir’s home base of St Luke’s Church in Tiptree, but the choir also sings mini-concerts at other venues during the year.
The choir has a membership of around 50 and new singers are always welcome, particularly tenors and basses. There is no audition, just come along to a rehearsal and join in.
Rehearsals are held in the Tiptree United Reformed Church, Chapel Road, Tiptree, CO5 0HR. Thursdays 19:45 – 21:30. We rehearse during some school holidays.
