The Groundhog Blues Club cic, is a not for profit group created in memory of UK blues legend, Tony McPhee.
Tony was inducted into the ‘Blues Hall Of Fame’ as a ‘Master Blues Artist’, he was awarded a lifetime achievement award as a ‘British Blues Great’ by the British Blues Awards. Had top 10 charting albums & earned 3 gold records for his albums Split, Two Sides of Tony McPhee and as recognition for his contribution to HTD records.
In 1970s he was rated as the UK’s 5th best guitarist and he collaborated and toured with some amazing musicians including John Lee Hooker, Rolling Stones & Canned Heat.
Tony McPhee lived for over 30 years in Shropshire and the last 22 of which in Wellington, a town he loved.
