“The Life & Times of John Ferneley” By Derek Holloway

Born in Thrussington in 1782, the son of a wheelwright, John Ferneley was first apprenticed to his father's trade. However, his artistic talent was recognised by the Duke of Rutland and, under his patronage John became the foremost animal artist of the 19th century.
