7.45pm for an 8pm start. There is no charge for this rehearsal and scores and refreshments will be provided. United Reformed Church, Vaughan Road, Harpenden AL5 4ED Harpenden Choral Society is a thriving and friendly amateur choir keen to recruit new members. They are holding an Open Rehearsal on Tuesday 9th September 2025. Admission is free and scores and refreshments will be provided. Harpenden Choral Society has an active and committed membership of about 75 singers. The choir is celebrating its 50th Anniversary this season and is marking the occasion with a concert of the choirs’ favourite works in November. Plans also include the popular annual Christmas carol concert, a spring concert of Vivaldi’s Gloria and Handel’s Coronation Anthems and a summer concert of Puccini’s Missa di Gloria and Rutter’s Magnificat. All concerts this season will be held in Harpenden churches with professional soloists and musicians including the King’s Sinfonietta. The choir would like to recruit new members in all voice sections. Singers can be sure to find challenge and inspiration as well as having great fun singing with a friendly group of people. Free singing lessons are offered to new joiners under the age of 30. Reduced subscriptions are available to those under 30, full-time students and anyone in receipt of income-related benefits.
