Our spring concert presents three masterpieces from two of the great composers of the early nineteenth century. Mendelssohn’s lyrical anthem for soprano soloist and choir, Hear My Prayer, first performed in London in 1845, which includes the celebrated ‘Oh for the Wings of a Dove’, is followed by his much-loved violin concerto, with its soaring solo lines and romantic melodies.
