More details - English Wine Week Vineyard Tour and Tasting at Warden Abbey Vineyard
Discover the secrets of Bedfordshire’s medieval vineyard, English wine-making, and how volunteers look after the vines all year round at this exciting community project. Nestled between the picturesque villages of Old Warden and Cardington, vines were first planted on this beautiful Bedfordshire field in medieval times by monks at Warden Abbey. Replanted in 1986, the vineyard has produced award-winning wines every year since its first vintage. Bedfordshire Rural Communities Charity now lease the vineyard in an ambitious project to provide a unique community and educational resource – and have continued its medal-winning tradition. Can’t make this date? The Friends of Warden Abbey Vineyard run monthly tours and tastings between May and September. We also run more detailed tours on the history of Warden Abbey. See website for details.

Tours start at 10.30 am and 2.00pm and last 1.5 to 2 hours. £10 adults (accompanied children free) Limited space so advance bookings only please. Please note there is no winery on the site. The vineyard is on a gentle slope and ground is uneven. The walk may not be suitable for people with limited mobility. Please bring suitable footwear/outdoor clothing for the weather. Our wine is for sale on the day. Check directions on website as we’re tricky to find & satnav takes to you to neighbour
