Shakespeare in the Barn : The Tempest

The Festival Players ( thefestivalplayers.co.uk/ ) perform Shakespeare's mystical play The Tempest in the atmospheric Medieval Barn. As in the Bard’s day, the company uses a small all-male cast of professional actors to play all the parts, and they invite you to share in the colour, poetry, and magic of this unique play. Shakespeare’s last play is a triumphant compilation of intrigue, magic, and humour. Prospero, an exiled Duke with supernatural powers, creates a great storm which sees his enemies shipwrecked on his island. Magic abounds, plots are exposed, and a colourful array of characters gain their deserts. This production is directed by Michael Dyer, with music by Johnny Coppin. The performance starts at 7pm inside the Medieval Barn. Doors and bar open from 6.30pm. Seating is unreserved. Booking essential. Car parking at the Barn is reserved for people with mobility problems and must be reserved in advance. Free parking for all at Winterbourne Academy (High Street, BS36 1JL) from where it is a pleasant rural 10 - 12 minute walk.
