The seventh Lavenham Literary Festival will take place on the weekend of 18-20 November in the beautiful medieval village of Lavenham. There is an exciting programme of authors speaking on subjects ranging from history and nature writing to poetry and the pandemic. Making a welcome return to Lavenham is politician turned novelist Alan Johnson. Tracy Borman a popular historian and good friend of the Festival will speak about her new history of the British monarchy, and best-selling author Rachel Joyce is in conversation with Paul Venables, better known as Jakob of The Archers. Much loved poet Wendy Cope is reading and discussing her work. Andrew Lownie will explore the ever-fascinating topic of royalty with insider Lady Colin Campbell as well as revealing scandalour royal secrets from his controversial biography of the Duke of Windsor 'Traitor King', recently the subject of a television documentary. Roopa Farooki, novelist turned doctor, will tell us about the first forty days of the pandemic in her memoir 'Everything is True', Radio 4's Book of the Week, while nature writer Patrick Barkham will take us into a gentler world. Simon Edge introduces his thriller about St. Edmund as part of the celebrations for the 1000th anniversary of the founding of the Abbey at Bury St. Edmunds.
