It’s time for the Leicestershire and Rutland One Act Play Festival. This annual event bringing together the best of local amateur theatre groups performing a one act play. What are the plays you can see at this year's Leicestershire and Rutland One Act Play Festival? A broad spectrum of plays from drama through to comedy being rehearsed and two original plays. Will you be at the festival to watch some of the best amateur groups at the Little Theatre April 12 -13? The plays this year are: - Friday evening. 1) ‘Afternoon at the Seaside’ by Agatha Christie. Comedy/melodrama. Whetstone YA. (Young adults) A whimsical tale about an emerald necklace, and the inspector investigating an extraordinary mix of characters to catch the thief 2) ‘More than Dust’ by Andy Longley-Brown. Drama. LongBrow Arts. Drama (An original Play) An intriguing drama, More Than Dust written by Melton Mowbray author Andy Longley-Brown, a play that asks the audience.....Is there more to life than this, and at what cost? Saturday matinee. 1) ‘A Universal Sorrow’ by Graham J Evans. Historical drama. Whetstone YA. (Young Adults) A powerful emotional drama about a Welsh mining disaster 2) ‘Joining the Club’ by David Tristram. Comedy. Little Acorns Production Company. Tom and Jenny have a wonderful carefree life. Each one has some important news to share that’s going to change all that 3). The Real and Imagined History of the Elephant Man’ by Tom Wright. Drama. TACTS. A challenging, moving play about spectacle, difference and identity Saturday Evening. 1) ‘The Donor’ by Wayne Roberts. Comedy. Little Acorns Production A man sitting quietly in a pub is approached by a stranger. What does he want and will he like the answers. 2) ‘Breaking and Entering’ by Mark Davenport. Comedy. LDS A couple break into a house with the intention of committing burglary, only to encounter the couple that owns it. Matters become more entangled when the two couples realise that they’re also each other’s...
