RCP Museum Late - The Medicinal Garden

This May step into spring with us for an evening enjoying our Medicinal Garden and Museum. Discover how plants from the garden have been, and in some cases still are, used in medicine with guided tours from our expert Garden fellows. Plus explore related items from our library and archives in a mini-display. Explore the garden The garden will be open to explore throughout the evening and there is the opportunity to join an expert guide for a tour of the Garden every half hour from 6pm until 8pm. The RCP Medicinal Garden isn't your typical garden. It is unique in that almost every one of the 1000+ species of plant here has a link to medicine.  The myriad of stories they tell come from diverse cultures, different countries and from every age in recorded history. The real joy of the garden is in its unique collection of plants that offer living examples of the history of medicine from ancient Egypt to the life-saving prescription drugs of today.  Explore our historic collections Discover how some of the medicinal plants have been used historically in a mini-display of items from our library, archives and museum, including early medical recipes. Plus, take the opportunity to explore the rest of our museum after hours including exhibition ‘Fortitude: healthcare workers’ experiences of the COVID-19 pandemic’, the Hoffbrand collection of apothecary jars, fine art portraits, medical implements and more. The Regent’s Perk café will be open for refreshments throughout the evening... See more >
