April 18th 2024 11.00-12.00
136 Kingsland Rd, London E2 8EA
Come on a tour of the new Collections Library at The Museum of the Home. In addition to the usual books, photographs and manuscripts found in archives, the library holds prints, wallpaper and textile samples, ceramics, glass and metalwork. Also included is a guided tour of an almshouse at The Museum of the Home and discover what it was like to live in Hackney 200 years ago. The Museum of the Home is housed in a row of restored 18th century almshouses. Built in 1714, the money to build the almshouses came from Sir Robert Geffrye and the museum was formerly known as the Geffrye Museum.
