Malcolm Archer has devised a programme which will entertain those who are new to organ recitals, and will intrigue the organ buff; Malcolm Archer is one of Britain’s most enjoyable recitalists. The programme will include music by Bach, Elgar, Franck and Vierne, and the premiere of Four Hymn Preludes by Malcolm Archer. Malcolm Archer has had a distinguished career in church music which has taken him to the posts of Organist and Director of Music at three English Cathedrals: Bristol, Wells and St Paul’s, and to other distinguished appointments, while over the years, his BBC Radio 3 broadcasts and commercial recordings have won many plaudits. The organ in Nutfield church is a resourceful 26-stop instrument rebuilt in 2000, which can flood the building with sound, and also has many beautiful quiet stops.
