Tue 10 Sep 24
Tues 10 Sep:1400; Sun 15 Sep:1200; Free Entry.
Lady Waterford Hall, Ford Village, Berwick-upon-Tweed TD15 2QG
Heritage Open Day: Step back in time with a visit to the Lady Waterford Hall. Discover why this Victorian ‘model’ village’s schoolroom is home to a series of astounding Pre-Raphaelite murals and hear the story of the 'People in the Paintings'. Originally commissioned by Louisa Anne, Marchioness of Waterford as a school for local children in 1860, she then spent 21 years completing her artistic masterpiece: the watercolour murals. These feature the faces of those who lived and worked on the Estate – the neighbours, tenants and children that Louisa knew and loved. Enjoy hearing the story of the people who feature in the murals told by the Ford & Etal Heritage Curator. The talk will last about 20 minutes...
