The Church was built in 1881 as a gift to the community from Mr William Roberts of Darleydale and cost £13,000. It was, for many years, known as ‘Christ Church-in-the-fields’ due to its placement in a semi-rural setting. • Come and see the beautiful alabaster and marble WWI memorial. This was erected in the early 1920s in the form of a reredos in the late Arts and Crafts style • Victorian records and documents giving an insight into the consecration and opening of the church in 1882 Open from 1000 to 1600 on Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th September only.
