History Walk about the old Railway

Meeting 10am at The Kings Head Inn, returning about 12 noon.
Free, no need to book, just turn up. Everyone welcome. Kings Head Inn, Mill Road Theddlethorpe, near Mablethorpe LN12 1PB Theddlethorpe History Club's fortnightly walk and talk, this week will meet at the King's Head Inn at 10am and will cover all things Railway. The old Louth & East Coast Railway was opened in 1877 connecting Louth via new stations at Grimoldby, Saltfleetby and Theddlethorpe, to Mablethorpe by train. It ran successfully bringing visitors to the seaside and helping farmers transport produce. But by 1960 the state of the line was deteriorating and considered underused. There was a rush for tickets for the last passenger train on 3rd December 1960.
