The gardens were originally designed in the late C19 by the renowned landscape architect Thomas Hayton Mawson, who was known for his work in the Lake District and other parts of England. Mawson created a beautiful formal garden with carefully manicured lawns, elegant flower beds, and striking topiary, as well as a peaceful woodland walk and a charming rock garden.
