Stroud care home invites community to honour VE Day
Thu 8 May 25
Free, 2:30-4:30 pm
123 Westward Rd, Stroud GL5 4SP
On Thursday 8th May, from 2:30pm-4:30pm, Care UK’s Scarlet House, on Westward Road, is welcoming local people to honour the 80th anniversary of VE Day with its very own 1940s-themed garden party. Guests will be able to commemorate the poignant historic moment by joining residents and the team in listening to Winston Churchill’s iconic VE Day speech, which will be screened in the home’s cinema room. A traditional spread of delicious food and beverages will also be on offer from 3pm, including scones with cream and jam, and Mini Concerts will be performing 1940s-themed songs to get toes tapping – providing a prime opportunity for a nostalgic singalong. Resident, Dr Rocyn-Jones, said: “It is important for the community to come together to remember VE day as the world would not be what it is today without the heroes of that time. Times were tough but we are made of tougher stuff!”...
