Gibbons was organist of Westminster Abbey, until his untimely death at 41 years.. Shoreham's beautiful church has a link with the Abbey, as both the pulpit and the organ casing came from there, so it is appropriate that the programme includes music not only by Gibbons but also by other composers connected with Westminster Abbey in the 16th and 17th centuries, such as Purcell, Robert White and John Blow. The choir will be accompanied by talented young organist Jack Gonzalez-Harding, who will also play a solo by Gibbons. Temenos, originally known as The Sunday Singers, was formed in Shoreham many years ago, so it is a delight for the choir to return to its spiritual home, singing its core repertoire of Early Music...
