Object Handling with the Old Operating Theatre and Herb Garret at FNM
Tue 5 Aug 25
This event is on between 1:00pm – 4:00pm and is included in all general admission tickets.
Florence Nightingale Museum 2 Lambeth Palace Rd, London SE1 7EP
What is better then one museum? TWO MUSEUMS! The Florence Nightingale Museum is exciting to have a visit from our friends at the Old Operating Museum and Herb Garret! The Old Operating Theatre is the oldest surviving surgical theatre in Europe housed in the attic of the early 18th century church of the old St Thomas’ Hospital. The museum features the original timber framed Herb Garret once used to dry and store herbs for patients’ medicines and in 1822 an operating theatre was included. Staff and volunteers are coming to share historic objects and make pomander bags using dried herbs in these drop-in sessions. If you can’t make it today, that’s ok! We will be hosting another Drop-In Object Handling and Craft Session with the Old Op on Wednesday 13th August...
