Prepare to be inspired this September as Surrey’s own Paul Jameson, a local entrepreneur living with Motor Neurone Disease (MND), takes on an extraordinary feat at Dunsfold Aerodrome in aid of the West Surrey branch of the MND Association. Diagnosed with MND in 2017 and originally given just six months to live, Paul has defied expectations for eight incredible years. To mark the anniversary of his diagnosis, he’s launching the 8 for 8 Challenge, a campaign to complete eight epic fundraising efforts in 2024, including an attempt to smash four Guinness World Records. The highlight event will take place on Sunday 7 September, when Paul joins forces with world champion sled dog racer Vickie Pullen to attempt a series of record-breaking challenges involving sled dogs pulling a custom-built wheelchair across the tarmac at Dunsfold. One of the planned records is for the greatest distance covered by a person vehicle pulled by dogs in one minute. This family-friendly festival will have music, food, special guests and more. The challenges are designed not only to raise vital funds, but to showcase the power of determination and hope in the face of a terminal illness. Paul’s story has already inspired thousands, and this latest endeavour is aiming to raise a massive £88,000 for the West Surrey branch of the MND Association reflecting the eight years since his diagnosis. Paul is no stranger to adventure. Since founding the funeral planning platform Aura with his son Dave in the wake of his diagnosis, he has climbed Mount Kilimanjaro, played tennis at the highest altitude ever recorded, and raised nearly £200,000 for MND causes to date. His upcoming record attempts will be documented online, and spectators may be able to watch the attempt live or via social media. This is not just a record attempt it’s a bold celebration of life, community, and pushing boundaries...
