Entry from 10am, adult tickets from £21.98 Stow Maries Great War Aerodrome, Hackmans Lane, Purleigh CM3 6RN The Stow Maries Air Show on 23 August is a celebration of heritage aviation, with an exciting programme of air events as well as ground displays. Highlights include (weather and operational reasons permitting) a flying display from a desert camouflage painted Spitfire dating from 1942, as well as formation flying by a stunning collection of World War One aircraft. These include the only airworthy Airco DH-9 in the world, flying alongside an Albatros, a Fokker and a Nieuport. The DH-9 is truly one-of-a-kind having just resumed flying after a full restoration having been found in a dilapidated condition hidden in an elephant stable at the Royal Palace in Bikaner, India. In addition, there will be classic barnstorming action from the Stampe Team in their open cockpit, aerobatic biplanes; low-level flying including flour bombing from the Turbulent Team; and the formidable Tiger Nine group piloting their nine Tiger Moth aircraft in formation.
