Brantwood Coniston, Brantwood, East of Lake, Coniston LA21 8AD The 11th Annual Ruskin To-Day Brantwood Lecture “Ruskin & Turner” delivered by Professor Robert Hewison will be held at Brantwood on Saturday 6 September 2025 2.30pm Robert Hewison examines the complicated personal relationship between Ruskin and Turner, the greatest painter of 19th century Britain. Ruskin was forty-four years younger than Turner. Turner’s origins were working-class, and he did not talk about his pictures. Ruskin’s passion for Turner was certain, but as he learned more and experienced more, his view became deeper and more tragic.
