Heritage Open Day: Visit a complete eighteenth century windmill and enjoy a self-guided tour and small exhibition about the restoration. Visitors are free to enjoy the grounds, TEAS & CAKES/bring a picnic. Toilet facilities are available. Guides on hand for questions Lowfield Heath Windmill is a Grade II listed building. Originally built in 1737 at Lowfield Heath, it worked until the 1880s. This mill is the twelfth oldest post mill out of the fifty remaining in the UK. The mill fell into disrepair over the next 100 years until being rescued by a newly formed trust in 1987. It was dismantled, moved to its present site in Charlwood, and restored to working order over the following 15 years. Within the roundhouse, there are display boards, and a film will be running.
