Heritage Open Day: Visitors will get the chance to look around the Newland Charcoal Iron Furnace. There will be an exhibition of the furnace's history and operation, and guided tours will be given to explain things further. There are a number of new exhibits on display. The site contains the remains of the Newland Charcoal Iron Furnace, an 18th-century water-powered blast furnace used for around 150 years to produce Pig Iron. Visitors are welcome to look at displays showing the history of the furnace and its restoration. Information on related industries is also provided. Guided tours around the furnace remains and the surrounding hamlet are provided throughout the day. Children supervised by parents or guardians are more than welcome...
