Heritage Open Day: Maureen Wheeler of the Huddersfield and District Family History Society lets us into the lives of 2 Nineteenth Century characters in the Holme Valley. An opportunity to find out about the lives of two working people in the Holme Valley in the Nineteenth Century in a presentation by members of the Huddersfield & District Family History Society. We will explore the life of a local governess who arrived as a young woman from Northamptonshire to work for a Honley family. The research will look at her background, her training, her links to Honley and, unusually for most governesses, her marriage to a local man.
