Meet local experts and discover why Stocksbridge is the birthplace of the modern umbrella! Visit this wonderful heritage museum housed in Stocksbridge's historic town hall, where you will discover a unique collection of rare Bolsterstone glass dating from the 17th century, and pottery produced in Midhope and Stocksbridge during the 18th-19th centuries. There'll be talks from expert local historians throughout the day as you discover the treasures in this hidden gem, plus showings of the restored iconic 1958 film, 'Steel Town'.
