Heritage Open Day: A chance to drop in and visit St. Werburgh's Church. Come and listen to a talk on the history of the church on Sunday 14 September at 2pm. On Wednesday 17 September from 1pm-3pm discover the stories in the Trena Cox stained glass windows. Completed in 1875, a fine example of Thirteenth Century Early English style, by Edmund Kirby. Refurbished in 2002. Stained glass windows. Much acclaimed 3 manual Binns/Sixsmith organ installed 2004. View displays inside the church, illustrating how the church evolved from its beginnings in secret masses said in houses on Foregate. It shows the changes in architecture, as politics, history, needs of the parish, and varying theological attitudes jostled for priority and dictated how today’s building took shape...
