The City Bookshop, 10 Davey Place, Norwich NR2 1PQ Heritage Open Day: A free exhibition showing some of the 80 or more mansions and large country houses lost to Norfolk in the past 150 years. An exhibition held in 1973 at the V&A and subsequent book ' The Destruction of the Country House' (Roy Strong, Marcus Binney & John Harris) identified 27 major country houses that had been lost to Norfolk. 'The Country Houses of Norfolk - The Lost Houses' (David Clarke - 2008) put the figure at 54. A soon-to-be-published sequel brings that list to nearly 80 - these being mansions in this county, often within parkland and approached via lodges and now erased from the landscape.
