Heritage Open Day: The beauty and history of Lodge Moor and Redmires. Reservoirs and conduit, a military base and prison camp, isolation hospitals and a racecourse, all formed a remote outpost in years gone by, with much evidence of the past still to be found today! An explore of the various historical tales of Lodge Moor and Redmires. The walk will last around two hours. We will be exploring the story of the area's importance in the city water supply story, with a near two century old conduit from Redmires to Crookesmoor still to be found. Taking in a visit to the remains of the P.O.W camp used in both wars, which was also the site of early aviation displays and Sheffield's last racecourse. All while taking in the beauty of the area and views of the city!...
