Heritage Open Day: A signal box where visitors can operate levers and see signals and points work. The Signal Box was decommissioned in 2000 after 78 years’ service, being the last remaining M&GN Joint Railway signal box constructed from William Marriot concrete blocks it was listed on closure as a Grade II structure A dedicated volunteer team have been attending to the maintenance of the signal box and grounds since 2004, this includes returning the signal box workings to the 1963 era. Visitors can operate the levers and watch the points and signals change position outside, and learn about the basic principles of signal box working. Trains pass within feet on their way in and out of Cromer station controlled from the signal box in Trowse, Norwich which took control in 2000 when Cromer Beach Signal Box closed.
