Heritage Open Day: Lutyens, renowned architect both nationally and internationally, began his career in Surrey. The venue for this talk is one of his early works. Known as 'Britain's greatest architect', Lutyens (1869-1944) produced some of the distinguished buildings we treasure today. His Surrey roots explain what shaped his career but what was his winning formula in designing such outstanding gems from Munstead Wood to the Washington Embassy, New Delhi to the Thiepval Memorial and Castle Drogo?
