Cresswell Village, Morpeth, Morpeth NE61 5JU Heritage Open Day: Cresswell Village becomes the scene of a re-enacted WW2 film (Went The Day Well), in which locals repel an invasion of Britain. See how ordinary British people contributed to the war effort. One of our Heritage Open Days in 2025, this years WW2 event is based around the film (of a similar name) which is in the public domain. The story is told in flashback by Charles Sims. During the Second World War, a group of seemingly authentic British soldiers arrive in the small, fictitious English village of Bramley End (replaced by Cresswell village). It is the Whitsun weekend, life is even quieter than usual, and there is almost no road traffic.
