Sat 13 Sep:11:00 - 16:00; Sun 14 Sep:10.45 - Harvest Celebration; Free Entry.
Lower Street, Newcastle-under-Lyme ST5 2UA
Heritage Open Day: A chance to view a non-conformist meeting house, originally one of many throughout the country, which developed out of the religious upheavals of the 17th century. The oldest non-conformist meeting house/chapel in North Staffordshire, still serving a faith community to this day. Built in 1717 in the shadow of the Parish Church (St Giles), the original building dated c. 1650 and was burnt down by a rioting mob. Attended by master potter Josiah Wedgwood and Joseph Priestley: chemist, theologian and discoverer of oxygen. Charles Darwin is also known to have visited. We will be holding our Harvest Celebration on Sunday 14th at 10.45 am. All welcome...
