Heritage Open Day: St Mark’s is a Victorian church with a spectacular interior, containing a gallery with a striking rood screen by Temple Moore, a war-memorial chapel with a Temple Moore reredos and some finely sculpted stations of the cross. St Mark’s Church (1844) is a Victorian church altered at the beginning of the 20th Century and extensively restored in 2010 after receiving grants from the Heritage Lottery Fund. It contains a gallery with the striking Temple Moore rood screen and some finely sculpted stations of the cross both donated by the Bignold family. The War Memorial Chapel was renovated and the Temple Moore reredos, damaged in WWII, was restored in 2013/14 made possible by a further grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund. The original box pews can still be seen upstairs...
