Heritage Open Day: The Quaker Graveyard is a hidden gem tucked behind a Carrstone wall on Priory Road. Behind the former Quaker Meeting House on Priory Road, the modest Quaker Burial ground is enveloped by trees and shrubs offering a peaceful retreat from the bustle of town life and space to reflect on the town’s rich spiritual history. Established in 1800 and active until 1899, this modest plot serves as a testament to the values of the Religious Society of Friends - commonly know as Quakers. A Friends Meeting House was established in Downham Market as long ago as 1701 but ceased to be used by 1796.
