The Abbey Church of St Mary the Virgin, Manor Court Road, Nuneaton CV11 5HU Heritage Open Day: The Abbey Church of St Mary the Virgin will be open from 1030 to 1300. Come and find out how the Abbey gave Nuneaton it's name. The Abbey has an exciting history, starting as life as a Benedictine Priory in the 1100s! It is now a parish church under the episcopal oversight of the See of Oswestry, within the Diocese of Coventry At 09:30 there will be a service of Holy Half Hour - 30 minutes of silent prayer, concluding with a short Benediction (blessing) at 10:00. Then we are open from 10:30 to 13:00, with tea/coffee and biscuits available all day. The historical archive of photographs, pew sheets, letters, and books will be available to view, not only about the Abbey but also about the surrounding streets, schools, and other organisations linked to the Abbey...
