Built in 1869, this wooden boathouse was extended in 1893. Find out about the Club past and present. It all began in early 1869 when a meeting was called in the town to form a rowing club, This was to promote the sport of rowing in a friendly and gentlemanly manner and many gentlemen joined. The present site was given to erect a boathouse on the Berwick side of the Tweed and, constructed almost entirely of timber, it was completed in that same year. The first regatta held at Berwick was in September 1869 and the course was from the Plantation to the Boathouse downstream.
