Heritage Open Day: The opportunity to visit Corsham's historic Almshouses for free. Corsham's Almshouses, completed in 1668, were built by Lady Margaret Hungerford to house six needy people. The building included a free school for 10 poor boys. Today, the site stands almost exactly as it was built and is a Grade I, Star-Listed Building. The schoolmaster's house and the schoolroom will be available to visit, plus the garden with its original covered walkway designed 'for the poor people to walk in the dry'. It is a fascinating opportunity to step back in time in one of Corsham's finest heritage buildings...
