Its imposing position and distinctive spire have been a familiar local landmark since it was completed in 1880. A warm welcome awaits you! St Matthews is a Grade II listed building situated next to Bushey Station. Bushey station opened in 1841 and this stimulated the expansion of what was then called New Bushey, later becoming Oxhey. A need for a new church to serve this growing community was identified and St Matthews was built and opened in 1880. Travellers see the church as the trains pass through the station and the church is seen daily by users of the station and main road.
