Heritage Open Day: St Mary's Church is a beautiful and ancient Grade I listed building, dating from approximately 1200 when the present chancel was built, although there is evidence of a church as early as 1086, including the font, which is used today. When the Doomsday surveyors came to Marston in 1086, they found a new church, which was probably a simple rectangular building in stone with a thatched roof and was built by the priors of Tutbury who held the Manor of Marston under Henry de Ferrers.
