Dating back to 1146 and the Knights Templars, with 17th century endowments for church, almshouses and a school by the grand-daughters of Robert Dudley, Earl of Leicester. The church was restored in 19th century by Sir George Gilbert Scott, and the composer of ‘It’s a Long Way to Tipperary’ is buried in the nearby cemetery.
