Heritage Open Day: St Mary's is a relatively rare example of a Church of England Parish Church. Not many churches were built in the early Georgian period, so it is a fine example of a fairly rare style of church architecture. St Mary's is an unusual church, having been built in 1723. In a recent renovation, it was re-painted in what are believed to be the original interior colours, so giving a good impression of how a church of that period would have looked. Other repairs and renovations have been done to the interior in time for the tercentenary, and the new memorial garden in the churchyard greatly improves the appearance of the church, so that it is looking its best.
